This is the poster I designed and won in the ACPWC2024 qualifying round with the theme based on Steve Jobs’s quote: “Creativity is just connecting things”
Indeed, creativity surrounds us, manifesting in the smallest things, whether it’s a rock, an ant, or something larger like a building or a mountain. It all depends on the artist’s imagination and expansiveness.
This quote by Steve Jobs inspired me to create a poster with a vibrant sky and clear, blue water as the main backdrop. When I find myself lacking design inspiration, I often gaze at the drifting clouds or sit by a gently flowing river, allowing my mind to relax. In this piece, the colorful sky represents the diverse spectrum of emotions, blending and harmonizing like the merging hues in the sky. Alongside it, the deep blue water, serene and monochromatic, balances the vivid sky.
Drawing inspiration from Leonardo Da Vinci’s “The Creation Of Adam,” the artwork features two hands almost touching, symbolizing the interconnectedness of all things. At the intersection of their fingertips, a bright light emerges – the essence of creativity. It’s a small but illuminating spark guiding people toward novel ideas. The image of the descending hand reaching into the deep blue water depicts the struggle of an artist, perhaps myself or others, sinking into the depths of creative stagnation. The hand above signifies patience and passion for the job, both hands coming together to form the light of creation.
The contrasting colors between the sky and water serve the dual purpose of balance and highlight the contrast between the two emotional extremes – between frustration, despair, and exuberance, brightness.
